Hopper received a best original screenplay Oscar nomination for.......
co-writing the script of the 1969 counter-culture road movie "Easy Rider,"
which he directed and starred in.
In 1969 I saw the movie for 2 bits. Unless a rocket fell directly on
the screen...we felt relatively safe. After all,the base was being guarded by dogs.....
we would hear a bark or an explosion....everything is cool.
After the movie the buzz was..."When I
get back to the world....I am going to buy a bike!"
Some of us did. Some of us still ride. After the movie....
bike sales surged.
A great cult classic to say the least. You haven't seen it?
